Research summary
The purpose of the study is to see if a low dose of a drug called zolpidem can help the movement and memory problems that affect people with late-stage Parkinson’s.
Zolpidem is usually prescribed as a sleeping pill but research has shown that when stroke patients and people with early-stage Parkinson’s are given a low dose of zolpidem (less that that given for sleeping problems) their movement and memory improve.
The effect of zolpidem on movement and memory problems has not been studied previously in people with later stage Parkinson’s so we aim to investigate its effect in this study.
