Research summary
The study aims to evaluate women’s views and experiences of having a medical or midwifery student present at any time in labour or postnatally. The study will recruit 12-24 women from the postnatal ward at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. Women aged 18 and over who have given birth and are present in the postnatal ward area at Ninewells Hospital will be eligible for participation. Participants will be invited to take part in a semi-structured interview with the researcher which will take around 30 minutes. The interview will be audio recorded and transcribed. The participants will also be asked to complete a short personal details questionnaire to capture demographic information. Results will be analysed using multiple qualitative methods such as thematic framework analysis, discourse analysis and narrative analysis.
The study is a fourth year project to be completed by Melanie Foy - a medical student at University of Dundee.REC name
