Research summary
The aim of the study is to gain an in-depth understanding of the experiences of women post Myocardial infarction(Heart Attack))who have participated in an NHS-led cardiac rehabilitation programme. The research will explore the lived experiences of women who have attended the programme, following their return home. It will explore opportunities and challenges raised by participants, particularly how the women perceived it impacting on their lives post myocardial infarction. It is anticipated that this research will provide useful in-depth insight into the experiences of women encountering this life changing event in their lives, and how individuals adjust to family life when they return home. The research will use a descriptive phenomenological approach to explore ‘lived experiences’ of women who have completed the rehabilitation programme and returned home, and will use one-to-one semi-structured interviews that will take place in their own homes and on their terms. The data elicited from interviews will be analyzed for themes that may typify or distinguish individuals with respect to their experiences
