Research summary
The study will analyse the way in which the conditions and experiences the individuals were undergoing at the time leading up to admission is represented in the written record and how this written record then goes on to apply an assessment and first review framework which justifies such admission. It will evaluate if there are significant commonalities and differences and how assessment, care planning and review frameworks respond to these. The parts of the written record which will be evaluated are the assessment, the subsequent reviews (as these confirm the continuation of the placement) and the case notes around the time of the reviews (the first one will usually be six weeks) and subsequent reviews which enable the placement to continue. In order to achieve this it will also be necessary to review the assessment, care plan and review frameworks to evaluate their congruence with the power, threat, meaning model .
