  West Midlands Covid 19 Digital Collaboration Biobank is a collaboration of 4 centres ( Coventry, Birmingham, Wolverhampton and North Midlands). All samples collected are surplus to diagnostic requirements. Samples will be stored at the coordinator centre, University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust, in secure premises with controlled access to authorised Tissue Bank staff only.
  All samples will be assigned a unique ID (hospital sample ID). The local sample ID will be assigned at each of the sites, and the West Midlands Covid 19 Digital Collaboration Biobank (WMCDCB) ID will be assigned prior storage in order to anonymise the samples. The link between Hospital sample ID and Biobank ID is held in secure databases hosted by UHCW NHS systems and only authorised staff have access.
  The WMCDCB ID is attached to all samples. This unique ID is the only identifier entered onto electronic database. This identifier , which is a relevant barcode is useful to allow tissues and samples to be link anonymised.

• Research programme

  A wide range of basic and translational research using techniques like basic DNA, RNA extractions, immunohistochemistry (IHC), polymerase chain reaction (PCR), in situ hybridisation techniques, primary cell culture, as well as new techniques such as sequencing, transcriptomic, metabolomics and proteomics. There will be no experimental drug testing or cosmetic testing or any other consumer goods testing. All tissue request applications will be assessed by the Tissue access committee consisting of clinicians, scientists and patient advocates. Tissues will be released upon successful and agreement of Material Transfer Agreement.
