Research summary
A prospective before-and-after study testing the Guardian Monitoring Solution on two wards of Ysbyty Gwynedd (YG), identified that deployment of an electronic automated advisory vital signs monitoring and notification system, to signal clinical deterioration in ward patients, was associated with significant improvements in key patient-centered clinical outcomes.
We will conduct of an economic evaluation to assess the cost-effectiveness of the system. The research will take the form of an economic model, populated by:
• Retrospective analysis of a fully de-identified research database (RDB) generated from the VITAL II study testing the Guardian Monitoring Solution on two wards of the Ysbyty Gwynedd.
• A targeted review of published evidence.
Clinical parameters in the model will be derived from the new fully de-identified RDB, held by BCUHB, designed to be accessed by external research partners (e.g. Bangor University). Cost and utility data will be derived from published secondary sources.REC name
