Research summary
Since the conception of national vaccination programmes, rates of vaccine-preventable diseases have drastically reduced, however, in recent years there has been a resurgence of VPDs in England and Wales. VPDs are associated with increased, often misused rates of antibiotics, and targeting these diseases is a potential route of tackling antimicrobial resistance.
This retrospective analysis aims to uncover the burden of antibiotic use for VPDs outlined in UK Health Security Agency’s (UKHSA- formally Public Health England) Immunisation against Infectious Disease, known as the ‘Green Book’.REC name
