Research summary
The use of magnetic resonance imaging to scan all areas of the body is rapidly increasing because it offers excellent quality pictures without requiring radiation.
A new technique called T1 mapping is currently being used in cardiac scans both for research and selected clinical cases to aid the diagnosis and prognosis of cardiac conditions.
Cardiac MRI scans are increasingly being used in patients with MRI safe pacemakers but it is unclear if new techniques such as T1 mapping can be used. Artefacts from the device and leads may alter the values to the extent that they are difficult to interpret. The aim of this study is to determine if T1 mapping can be performed in patients with a pacemakerREC name
