  • Research summary

Brief Summary of the proposal in lay terms:
This study wants to observe what effect an intervention (team formulation) delivered to Healthcare professionals/care staff, has on the staff's perceptions of service users (in this case people with intellectual disabilities). Staff will be asked to fill out five questionnaires before the intervention and then again after the intervention. After three months the staff will be contacted and asked to fill out the same set of questionnaires. From this, we hope to gain an understanding of how this intervention changes staff empathy, optimism, emotional responses and attribution change. We would like to know if the intervention helps to improve the staff approach and the care and support people with intellectual disabilities receive in hospital/ or in the community.
