Research summary
The researcher will talk to patients who have contacted the Grampian out-of-hours general practice department because of pain related to cancer. We wish to find out the reasons that participants are using the out-of-hours service. We wish to find out what participants think about the out-of-hours GP service and whether they have any ideas or suggestions about how it might be improved. We also wish to find out whether there are any problems with how cancer pain is managed during daytime hours and whether participants are using the out-of-hours service because of any gaps in their routine care. We wish to hear if participants have any suggestions as to how daytime services for cancer pain might be improved and whether anything could be done to help them manage their pain better, especially when their own practice is closed.
