  • Research summary

‘Dartfish®’ is a piece of software used primarily in the area of sports science. The software is used in conjunction with a video camera to physical movement

It is proposed that Dartfish® may be a viable outcome measure to use within a health setting - an occupational therapy service that offers Ayres' Sensory Integration (ASI) practice to adults who have a learning disability. This study proposes that an initial thematic qualitative research study is undertaken to explore the views of the people who would typically access ASI and therefore Dartfish®.

This study will seek to consult service users about the application of Dartfish® through the method of two focus groups. The participants will witness a practical demonstration of Dartfish being used and will be able to try recording and analysing images themselves with support from staff trained to use Dartfish

Photographic and video evidence are currently provided to service users before and after Sensory Integration Therapy linking Ayres Sensory Integration with seated functional postural improvements. Video has been beneficial to communicate these outcomes to service users. The service has received positive feedback from service users and carers from the therapy and the visual feedback. It is hoped that Dartfish will quantify the information we feedback to service users and commissioners
