Research summary
This research aims to explore the changing experiences and support needs of patients with melanoma and their carers throughout the disease process. Patients, carers and healthcare professionals will be interviewed on a maximum of 10 occasions over three years. Interviews will be transcribed, codes assigned to important passages and compared to identify important events. Recognising experiences and interactions as they occur will highlight varying needs over time. Where we identify changes to care that may improve the patient experience, guidelines for best practice will be produced in conjunction with participants. Resources may then be directed to where they are most needed.
