Research summary
Why?
This research is exploring the experiences of stakeholders involved with Green Social Prescribing focussing in particular on any barriers and difficulties they have faced. How is it of relevance and importance to patients and public?
There has been a growing interest in the benefits of GSP with £5.77 million cross government Green Social Prescribing Programme being run between April 2021-2023. However there is emerging research suggesting that there are some areas of difficulty and barriers which impact upon who is able to access GSP and how successful the projects are. It is important that these difficulties are understood to ensure equitable access and a limitation of possible unintended negative consequences from the GSP activities. What?
This study is exploring GSP, focussed on, but not exclusive to those around Surrey Heartlands as they received funding to establish a GSP network so have an established network of projects on offer.Who?
This study would be interviewing those who are over the age of 18. It will be focussed on 3 target groups - those who refer into GSP, those who run projects offering GSP activities (or who chose not to be involved with the scheme but run groups that could have been considered), and those who are eligible to access the scheme, whether they took the referral up or not.Where?
The focus of the project will be within Surrey Heartlands as they have an established GSP network who have agreed I can advertise through them. However other areas are gradually beginning to develop GSP interventions so I if able to contact them they will be invited to take part. How?
The study will last until enough interviews have been conducted, hopefully by October 2025. Participants will have one, hour long, semi-structured interview with an opportunity for follow up if desired. This can be in-person or online.REC name
