Research summary
Growing cells in sufficient quantities for transplantation remains a challenge and there are several clinically valuable cell types in the eye that are needed for future cell therapies to blindness. Mogrify uses an algorithm to predict the combination of factors needed to directly convert one cell type to another.
We propose to sequence cornea and retina tissues to predict factors necessary to convert these cell types in vitro for transplantation, or by in vivo reprogramming. Finally, we aim to test these factors on corneal and retinal cell cultures and tissue explants to determine if they able to reprogram clinically valuable cell types.
