  • Research summary

To develop models for quality of life specific to patients with chronic disabling neurological conditions (first stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica (NMO), spinal conditions, motor neurone disease (MND)). [COVID-19 amendment 01/07/2020]; It will be necessary to understand how the rapid societal changes occurring as a result of the international crisis affect the trajectory of QoL otherwise it may be a substantial confounding factor for the TONiC analysis. An additional ad hoc postal questionnaire will be sent to all those consented to Phase 4 of TONiC. The pack will contain questions relating to CoViD in order to capture its social and clinical impact, as well as a shortened version of the standard phase 4 longitudinal pack (including questionnaires for worry, hope, self efficacy, locus of control, coping, anxiety and depression, ,functioning, and quality of life), unless subjects happen to be due a phase 4 pack in which case the CoVid questionnaire will be an insert. This pack (or CoViD insert) may be administered up to three times at 4 monthly intervals, depending on the length of the pandemic and societal restrictions.
