Patients aged over 16 years attending non-HIV appointments in Genitourinary Medicine clinic, Royal South Hants Hospital, Southampton and St Mary’s Hospital, Portsmouth will be studied. This sample will be surveyed using a written questionnaire whilst awaiting their appointments. Using such testing would prevent untreated and delayed treatment that may occur current testing methods. Their consultations and follow-up episodes will be reviewed to assess gonorrhoea and chlamydia infection rates and any delays to treatment that occurred. Patients booking appointments who require an interpreter or have limited comprehension of English language will be excluded from this study. Those wishing not to be included in the study are to leave the questionnaire uncompleted.
