Research summary
These two experiments aim at the investigation of the joint attention in facilitating the sense of trust between humans and robots involved in interaction tasks (e.g. joint gaze and use of voice and gestures)
Participants will play the investment game with a robot (e.g. the Aldebaran NAO, a small 60cm humanoid robot) that faces them across a shared screen. Participants will play the game in two different conditions: joint attention and non-joint attention. In the joint attention condition the robot will establish eye contact with participants, point to its choice and declare it. In the non-joint attention condition the robot will simply indicate it's decision in the game.
The trust that the participants have in the robot will primarily be measured by the amount of money they choose to invest with the robot, with secondary measures elicited through standardised questionnaires and analyses of gaze.
In one experiment the joint attention will be a between subjects factor, in the other one it will be a within subjects factor.REC name
