Research summary
This study aims to produce and maintain engineered musculoskelal tissues in the laboratory that can be used for research into musculoskeletal disorders. This will be achieved through:
1. The investigation of cell populations contained within the donor tissue for their tissue forming properties.
2. Through the addition of chemicals and proteins to encourage tissue formation or diminish tissue degradation within the donor tissue. The tissues that will be collected for this study will include cartilage, periosteum, synovium, muscle and skin. These tissues will be collected at the time clinically directed surgery and will be surplus to diagnostic requirements
