• Data collection arrangements

  Samples/data to be stored and collection/consent arrangements (maximum 200 words):
  The bank will store tissue samples surplus to clinical requirements from patients diagnosed with all types of cancer that are being taken as part of patients’ routine clinical care. The bank will on rare occasions take new samples purely for research but only if surplus material is not available and only when taking those samples constitutes minimal risk.
  Only relevant clinical and demographic data will be collected and linked to each sample, for example tumour type,tumour site, age at diagnosis, treatment history and survival outcomes. Information will be obtained from the medical
  records of each donor in "linked anonymised" form and held on a secure server in the University of Leicester.
  Research programme/community supported by the bank (maximum 200 words):
  The University of Leicester Cancer Research Biobank is created primarily to support projects in Leicester while
  remaining open to provision of samples to organisations outside Leicester and to external institutions already in collaboration with Leicester researchers. Researchers from academic, charitable and commercial organisations will be able to apply for access to banked tissue samples.

• Research programme

  The biobank is key to supporting numerous key projects across the Leicester Cancer Research Centre and directly supports academics, clinicians and studentships. In addition it supports a number of large grant led programmes and industrial collaborations.
