  • Research summary

Children and young people (CYP) with chronic physical health conditions often report mental health problems like anxiety and depression. Previous research has focused on risk – circumstances that make it more likely for young people to experience mental health problems. This research project will work with CYP, their parents, and local communities or national charities to develop a disease-specific programme to support their mental health. This research will be delivered in four work packages (WP), through finding what might work (WP1), developing a consortium (WP2), co-design an intervention programme with CYP, their parents, and health care professionals (WP3), and conducting a feasibility test for this new programme (WP4). The aim of this project is to develop a mental health programme with flexibility for young people with chronic physical health conditions to strengthen their resilience.
