  • Research summary

    This study is aiming:
    1. To determine the role of Neurotensin (NT) and its receptors (NTSR1) in the endoscopic screening of high risk population for developing colorectal cancer.
    2. To establish the role of NT/NTSR1 in the initial stages of colon and rectal cancer formation (polyps).
    3. To use the results of this study in order to explore the potential effect of NT based drugs against cancer.
    4. To investigate the possible connection of NT/NTSR1 with other markers currently used in colorectal cancer in order to improve the screening process.

Patients will be recruited from the Royal Marsden Hospital (RMH) and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital (C&W). The measurements will be performed at the Department of Surgery and Cancer, Imperial College London Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
