Data collection arrangements
A wide range of anonymised diseased and normal human tissue samples with an associated minimal data set will be sourced from organisations within the UK that are ethically approved to obtain such samples. Where samples are to be imported from outside the UK, documentation will be obtained from those organisations to show that the tissues have been sourced within the terms of the local legal and regulatory requirements and that these broadly match the UK requirements particularly with respect to informed consent. As a general rule the types and amounts of tissue that will be obtained for the Research Tissue Bank will be dictated by the requirements of a specific research study.
Research programme
Envigo CRS (Huntingdon) is one of the worlds' leading Contract Research Organisation (CRO). It provides non-clinical and clinical safety evaluation research services for new chemical entities(NCE) and new biologic entities (NBE) to the worlds' leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, agrochemical and industrial chemical companies. The services offered are designed to meet the regulatory requirements of governments around the world and are an indispensable part of safely developing new drugs to manage and improve human health and wellbeing. To this end Envigo CRS needs to acquire ethically sourced human tissue samples to support a broad range of scientific research procedures throughout the company. The research community it supports is therefore world-wide.
