Research summary
The proposed study would use interviews of parents of children at 6 to 24 months after discharge from a The Children's Trust to answer the question
What were the expectations with regards to rehabilitation of parents after their child has suffered a major trauma, and how did these compare to their experiences? This will illustrate the hopes that parents had for their child’s recovery as well as the expectations they had for the service they will receive. It will also establish whether their experiences matched up to their hopes or if they needed more support in understanding the role of rehabilitation and planning for this journey.
The project would aim to recruit parents of patients who have had a major trauma and have been discharged from The Children’s Trust specialist rehabilitation service for between 6 to 24 months. The expectation would be that the study would take place approximately eight months after rehabilitation with each parent undergoing a 60 minutes interview approximately. Ideally this would take place in their own home or at a venue convenient for them
