Research summary
Oticon Medical AB has developed a new bone conduction hearing transducer system (BAHS) with higher output in comparison to the preceding device. This BAHS can either be anchored to the skull via a surgically implanted abutment or worn on a head band.
The objective of this study is to test the new PONTO PLUS device in a laboratory setting and compare it to the other current BAHS devices from the PONTO range -PONTO PRO and the PONTO PRO POWER.
The investigation aims to quantify the benefits of the new bone anchored hearing transducer device with regard to audibility and speech intelligibility in quiet. In addition, audibility, speech intelligibility in quiet and sound quality will be compared for different types of sound processor coupling associated with different prescribed fittings in PONTO PRO devices: coupling/fitting via individual surgical abutment versus being worn on a test band (also known as a soft band).REC name
