Research summary
electroCore LLC® have an approved therapeutic device on the market in Europe (CE marked) which can be used to reduce symptoms of depression, treatment or prevention of headache, as an adjunctive therapy to reduce the symptoms of gastric motility disorders and irritable bowel syndrome and as an adjunctive therapy in the prevention of partial onset and generalized seizures associated with epilepsy. It stimulates the vagus nerve in the neck. Previous studies have shown that stimulating the vagus nerve may also have beneficial effects in inflammatory conditions. This project is an initial study to look at the effects of vagus nerve stimulation with electroCore's gammaCore® device on the expression of multiple inflammatory biomarkers in blood collected from healthy subjects. The study will be performed by KWS BioTest on behalf of electroCore LLC.
