Data collection arrangements
The ‘Clinical and Research Database for Persistent Schizophrenia’ aims to store clinical data (e.g. symptoms scores) from service users of the Clozapine Clinic under the care of PI Dr. Emilio Fernandez-Egea.
All data will be electronically anonymised so that no information is personally identifiable to any particular individual and stored on a password protected computer. An anonymised dataset will then be analysed by members of the ‘Research in Persistent Schizophrenia’ team in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust and collaborators in UK or abroad for research purposes only.
Research programme
The ‘Clinical and Research Database for Persistent Schizophrenia’ supports research in persistent schizophrenia, specifically service users of the Clozapine Clinic. Collection of this information will help to monitor and improve the quality of service given, such as how well medication works to reduce symptoms and improve mental health; to gather long-term information about the effects of persistent schizophrenia in order to better understand its causes and outcomes; and to guide and conduct further research such as investigation of the relationship between persistent schizophrenia and diet, smoking, etc.
