• Research summary

  Mutations in the gene for the complement factor I (CFI) protein has been found in patients with AMD. Furthermore low CFI protein levels have been found in the blood of patients with AMD and CFI gene mutations. This project aims to identify patients with advanced dry AMD (geographic atrophy), low blood CFI levels together with CFI mutations. These patients may then be offered potential future studies targeting CFI supplementation.
