Research summary
BANNER is a research study to help improve understanding of barriers and anxiety reactions in research MRI patients. This study will use focus groups and thematic analysis methodology to explore anxiety events experienced by patients related to an appointed research MRI scan at the Leeds biomedical research centre (BRC). The findings of the study will be used to better inform research staff and give an epistemological understanding of anxiety experienced by research patients and how, if at all, they could be better served in the research pathway leading to an MRI scan to elevate feelings of anxiety. The outcomes from this study may make research participants more likely to attend research visits and attend follow up visits - which may improve research findings and ultimately medical treatment.
Participants in this study will complete a questionnaire following having an MRI scan as part of a separate study already ongoing (not related to this ethics application). Following the questionnaire, they will attend a focus group.
