Data collection arrangements
We will store data to allow for the more efficient screening of individuals to clinical trials. Sites agreeing to be part of this register will provide demographic data, clinical diagnoses, and data assessments such as cognitive testing, activities of daily living questionnaires, and any behavioural and neuropsychiatric scales. Sites will also provide data concerning dementia risk factors. These data and data from future assessments will be housed in research databases at individual sites, with explicit consent from participants at these sites. Data will be incorporated from other relevant studies from which participants have been recruited and where the study has approval to share the data. Only data that cannot be traced back to participants will be organised into a separate common dataset stored on the DPUK Data Portal. These anonymous data can be accessed by clinical trial sponsors to efficiently screen individuals for clinical trials. After screening, details of relevant trials and studies will be sent to individuals by the site that they originally visited.
Research programme
The Dementias Platform UK Trials Delivery Framework (DPUK TDF) is a platform designed to foster highly targeted clinical studies of conditions that cause or contribute to dementia through offering participation in clinical studies to individuals who have already undergone clinical screening and who have already consented to be re-contacted for research. The TDF therefore provides a platform for efficient participant selection and recruitment into studies on the basis of pre-existing patient data.
