  • Research summary

The purpose of this post-marketing observational study is to perform an evaluation of an algorithm, through software called Tilt Table Analyzer, which analyzes the data collected during the tilt table test usually performed to make the diagnosis of patients suffering syncope (fainting). The tilt table test is a diagnostic test used to investigate the origin of the syncope, putting patients in different tilt positions or standing for defined periods of time. The aim of the test is to provoke a syncope episode and record eventually changes in the heart rhythm and arterial blood pressure during all phases of the test.
The purpose of Tilt Test Analyzer software is to find some heart rhythm and arterial blood pressure measurements that can predict the syncope recurrence before it occurs. If the study will find that the software works correctly, in the future the tilt table test could lead to a diagnosis before the fainting occurs; this is less stressful for the patient.
