Research summary
We aim to explore whether telemetric assisted monitoring of blood sugar has a role in women with Diabetes Mellitus during pregnancy. Women who are pregnant and have diabetes require frequent review of their glucose monitoring during the antenatal period. This results in frequent appointments at the antenatal clinic. Although some women do need medical (diabetes/obstetric) and midwifery review at each appointment, others may not. This is particularly the case for women whose sole indication for attendance is for blood sugar review. These hospital attendances can be labour and time-intensive for women.
This study will investigate whether substituting these visits with home monitoring of glucose and review using telemetry is an acceptable method to women and what impact this has on the service.REC name
