Research summary
The purpose of the research is to help improve the uptake and efficiency of innovation in the NHS. We will do this by developing an understanding of the ways in which innovation is embraced currently in NHS organisations, the sorts of people who drive and contribute to innovation and the costs of innovation. This will involve interviews and observation of meetings in 4 case study sites. We will interview NHS staff and other people (e.g staff from independent sector organisations) connected to the local innovation landscape in those sites. We will also use additional interviews outside of local/regional case study sites. These will be used to explore nationally-relevant and cross-cutting insights and to understand the relationship between and influence of local and national policy in framing innovation impacts in the health system.
