Research summary
We would like to invite women with urinary incontinence referred for a pelvic floor muscle exercise to take part in this research.
Women referred for pelvic floor muscle exercise will be sent a copy of the study information with their appointment letter. On arrival at the clinic the study will be discussed by the continence staff and consent will be obtained from those women who agree to take part. During the normal first appointment, the measurements to determine body build will be taken, which include: height, weight, measurements of arms, legs and waist circumference. This is the only non-standard intervention. Women will complete a short form questionnaire (a disease specific item) before and after three months of supervised pelvic floor muscle training to measure the outcome of pelvic floor muscle training on continence.REC name
