• Research summary

  Patients who suffer from severe constipation have considerable impairment of their quality of life, such that when all conventional treatments fail surgery becomes an option. Surgery to remove the colon (large bowel) is a major operation with considerable risks attached. This study aims to identify whether evidence of muscle or nerve abnormalities in the bowel predicts the outcome of the operation.
