  • Research summary

Paediatric intensive care units (PICU) are labour-intensive, technology-driven healthcare environments where critically-ill children receive care and treatment for life-threatening illnesses. Such conditions create complex interactions that have the potential to shape experiences of families, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of the critically-ill child. The aim of the study is to understand how social interactions influence care practices for the child and family during extracorporeal organ support.
