Participants: Five older individuals with or without mild-moderate dementia, will be recruited using the exclusion / inclusion criteria from sheltered accommodation by the facility manager.
Consent: After the provision of oral and written information, written consent will be obtained from all participants by the researcher.
Baseline measurements: 1) 4 weeks of movement and activity data measured by the sensor system 2) 4 weeks of reported fall data to overlay with activity data, 3) quality of life assessment, 4)Interview 5) weight measurement
Intervention: 12 weeks of biodynamic lighting exposure in the individual's home in addition to activity data measured by the sensor system. The facility manager to complete mapping questionnaire.
Post intervention measurements: 1) Interview-feedback on lighting system, 2) quality of life assessment, 3) 12 weeks of movement and activity data measured by the sensor system, 4) 12 weeks of reported fall data to overlay with activity data
Outcomes: Acceptability of the lighting system in the home
    Changes in quality of life
Accurate detection of falls by the lighting system
If this feasibility study is successful the study will be expanded more widely and include a control group to fully investigate if biodynamic lighting exposure can improve quality of life of people within the ageing population and/or people living with mild to moderate dementia.
