  • Research summary

    Background:
Based on the 2018-2019 Royal College of Physicians consultant census, 32% of consultants were of non-European ancestry of which, 28% were Asian, 2% Black and 2% of mixed heritage. There is a similar reflection in the census for higher speciality trainees also. As a consequence, the familiarity of UK trained Dermatologists with non-European skin types may be limited. This may impact on ability to manage and diagnose these diseases. With the changing demographics in the UK and increasing number of people of mixed heritage, there is a need for visual references of skin diseases in individuals of different ancestry.
