The Bank supports, and will continue to support, research in both Dentistry and Medicine, enabling researchers (both clinicians and biomedical scientists) to access tissues from which adult stem cells may be collected for use in tissue engineering research to develop methods for generating new tissues for clinical repair and replacement. The hard parts of the tooth samples are used in research into dental decay and in seeking to develop new ways of treating dental disease.
