  • Data collection arrangements

    The Tissue samples are stored in the secure joint Sheffield Teaching Hospitals/University of Sheffield Biorepository facilities within the Royal Hallamshire Hospital (RHH) accommodation. Donors are transported to the RHH mortuary and the tissues removed by experienced Neuropathologists supported by Anatomical Pathology Technicians. The Brain bank data is held on University computers and secure servers. The clinical team is based in the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience and in the Neurology Department of the RHH. Families are consented either in RHH accommodation, at home or via telephonic communication.

  • Research programme

    The Brain Bank has a predominant local user community within the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience. In addition it supports national UK neuroscience research as part of the MRC Brain Bank Network.
