Research summary
NHS England is funding integrated diabetes and mental health care services for people with Type 1 Diabetes-related Disordered Eating (T1DE). People with T1DE are likely to experience more hospital admissions and are at increased risk of developing diabetes related complications. The National Institute for Health Services (NIHR) has requested research to explore how integrated diabetes and mental health (T1DE) services are being implemented.
The research will involve interviews with service users in eight study sites where these integrated services are being implemented. All service users who are in receipt of the integrated T1DE service will be eligible to take part in the study. The aim of this research is to investigate the experiences of services users in the integrated T1DE service. The research will be conducted remotely (e.g. Teams or a telephone call) via semi-structured interviews with service users. Service users may ask someone (e.g. a family member, friend carer) to accompany them to the interview should they wish.
The study will last until October 2024, with data collection completed by August 2024.
