Research summary
Pustular psoriasis refers to a group of severe inflammatory skin disorders manifesting with repeated eruptions of painful pustules. These conditions can present with acute episodes of skin pustulation and systemic upset (generalised pustular psoriasis (GPP)) or chronic pustular eruptions that affect the palms and soles (palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP)). The study aims to contribute to patient-focused drug development by elucidating what is important to adult patients with GPP and PPP. The study will collect data on patient experiences with GPP or PPP, including the process of being diagnosed, GPP or PPP symptoms and how they affect patients’ lives, patients’ treatment history, and any unmet treatment needs. Participants will complete a web-based survey (approximately 30 minutes in length) and will have the option to also complete a telephone interview (approximately 90 minutes in length). Participants will be at least 18 years of age, have been diagnosed with GPP or PPP at least 12 months ago by a medical doctor of GPP or PPP, have not been diagnosed with any exclusionary medical conditions, and are not participating in any clinical trials for GPP or PPP. Participants in the UK will be recruited through a clinical dermatology site. The Sponsor, Boehringer Ingelheim International GmbH, a pharmaceutical company based in Germany, is organising and funding the Study. Evidera, Inc. a contract research organisation commissioned by the Sponsor is managing and conducting the Study on behalf of the Sponsor.
