Research summary
This study aims to identify a set of ’core outcome measures’ for trials in metastatic prostate cancer. Standardising the outcomes measured in clinical trials will improve the quality of evidence and allow improved comparison between studies. \n\nA ’long-list’ of outcome measures will initially be generated by reviewing all relevant studies published in the last five years, with further outcome measures valued by patients added to the long-list following a series of interviews with prostate cancer patients. International expert clinicians will also be interviewed to obtain further input for the long-list.\n\nThe long-list will be refined through a three-round consensus process of questionnaires administered to patients and clinicians with experience of prostate cancer. An iterative process known as the Delphi Technique will be used: aggregated results of the previous round are fed back to participants prior to completing the next round.\n\nThe final core outcome set will be ratified at a consensus meeting of patients and clinicians.
