Research summary
Study participation involves 15-30 minutes of patient's time (50 adults and 25 children aged 4 years or older). Patients will be asked to wear a nasal cannula linked to a CO2 measuring device at the same time. This device is a gold standard for measuring respiratory rate. The data from both devices will be used to design and improve algorithms for measurement of respiratory rate with the saturation probe.
This study was developed to support future research and development activities related to the Philips SpO2 platform. In this study, data from released devices will be collected. Data collected will be used to support the development, design, and optimization of Philips devices, and specifically to optimize the algorithm which derives respiratory rate from the photoplethysmography signal. Data will not be used to directly support regulatory submissions or product claims.
