  • Research summary

COVID-19 infection can present with common symptoms of persistent cough and fever. As we learn more about COVID-19, it is emerging that many of those infected may be asymptomatic. Some studies have estimated that up to 75% of those who are infected may show no symptoms in the non-pregnant population. \n\nCOVID-19 in pregnancy appears to cause a relatively mild form of the disease. It is not known what proportion of pregnant women may be infected but asymptomatic. This is of significance because pregnant women must continue to have contact with health workers throughout their pregnancy and during childbirth. This puts maternity workers at additional risk of viral transmission. The aim of this study is to determine the proportion of pregnant women and maternity health care works have previously been, or are currently infected with COVID-19 without symptoms.\n
