Research summary
The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is the most commonly injured knee ligament. ACL injuries that occur are mainly non-contact in nature such as landing from a jump, running and turning during an activity. Many running related injuries have been reported to be caused by multiple factors including altered biomechanics after ACL injuries. This study will investigate the differences in the movements of lower limbs before and after ACL Reconstruction during running, single leg squat and single leg landing, which may be linked to predicting knee re-injury risk in patients. This means that the tests we are conducting will be recorded to see how the results correlate between before and after ACL reconstruction with a view to whether they can be used for screening of knee re-injury risk in patients.
