  • Research summary

This randomised control study aims to evaluate the treatment outcomes of immediate loading (installing the prosthesis on same day as implant placement) with full-arch upper jaw removable bridges onto 2 types of dental implant. The study will compare fully roughened(control)and "MSc" hybrid roughened (test) implants within the same patients by randomly assigning the test implant to one side of the mouth. Each bridge will be supported on four dental implants (two per side of the mouth, a clinically proven technique known as "All-on-4". All implants have a tilted connection platform designed to correct the angulation of the manufactured teeth relative to the axis of the implants ("Co-Axis").
We will be measuring the results of this study in terms of changes to soft tissue and bone clinical parameters, prosthetic maintenance, patient satisfaction, and chair time as an aspect of cost. Patients(n=25) will be selected according to the eligibility criteria and all surgical and prosthetic procedures will be conducted at a single centre. The monitoring phase will be done at 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years and 5 years.
