Research summary
Vasculitis represent a group of rare autoimmune diseases that can involve multiple organs simultaneously causing organ dysfunction. There are unmet needs in understanding the mechanisms involved in these diseases. This study aims at examining the role of proteins called Siglecs using a novel disease model that we developed recently. Siglecs belongs to the innate immune system and can modulate the response of neutrophils, the commonest type of white blood cells. This single centre study will be using blood samples from patients with active disease and healthy controls. The study duration is for 18 months.
