Research summary
The expression and role of TNFR members and intracellular signalling modulators of apoptosis is less studied in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in comparison to other carcinomas, which offers a novel platform to study expression of such proteins in RCC by histological studies. The aim of the project is to determine expression
in RCC of TNFRs, such as CD40, as well as key intracellular proteins that positively or negatively modulate induction of apoptosis in order to ultimately provide markers of disease progression and prognosis. Moreover, as it is clear that RCC is more refractory than other cancers to current chemotherapy and immunotherapy approaches, the study will provide a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms of resistance and the potential for design of improved therapeutic approaches.REC name
