Research summary
An electronic version of 28 - item Standarised Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ12+) was developed to measure the functional problems that patients, 12 years and older, with rhinoconjunctivitis experience in their daily lives. It has been fully validated and has strong measurement properties for use in both cross-sectional and longitudinal studies. All the validation studies of this questionnaire have been conducted using the original paper versions.
This is a UK centred, single visit, cognitive debriefing study evaluating how patients interpret the instructions, content and response options using electronic online version of the RQLQ12+ questionnaire designed to assess the quality of life in patients with hayfever.
The study visit (lasting approximately 20 minutes)will comprise completion of 28-item online version of the RQLQ12+ questionnaire without any assistance, and identify any parts of the process of completing the questionnaire the participant had difficulty understanding. If such parts are identified the investigator will discuss with the patient the best way to make each one clearer and more accurate. The investigator will make a note of the following:
a) Was the patient able to complete the questionnaires unaided?
b) Parts of the presentation that were not crystal clear and suggestions for modification.Eligible patients will be aged 12 years or over with rhinoconjunctivitis diagnosis. The aim is to recruit 10 patients from 1 primary care site, which will be identified from practices participating in the Optimum Patient Care Research Network (OPCRN). Optimum Patient Care (OPC)provides primary care clinical review services for asthma and COPD. Practices using the OPC review service are invited to join the OPCRN. Agreement to join the OPCRN and receive the invitations to participate in research studies does not mean practices are obliged to participate.
