Research summary
COVID-19 is a global pandemic. Finding clinical markers that can predict severe forms of disease and/or death is important in allowing clinicians to identify those patients most at risk. In this study, we will look back at the clinical data already collected from the Royal Berkshire Hospital (UK) during the peak of the pandemic in the UK, to identify certain clinical markers or combination of markers that are linked to poor prognosis in patients with COVID-19. We will also look at and summarise the pattern of clinical markers in patients with COVID-19. The results have potential value to enable clinicians to better select patients most at risk to the harms of COVID-19 and target potential emerging therapies. \n\nTherefore, the clinical urgency of this study is considered high.
